We have had some pleasant sunny days this past week in the southwest of England so this morning I went out into the garden to see the state of things after the bad weather we had earlier during the winter. Some things I can still manage to do in the garden - things that don't need much strength and the other things I leave for the gardener - a very nice man who comes twice a month to help me with the heavy things I can no longer do.
Looking around this morning I was pleasantly surprised by something I hadn't noticed before. There is a bush that has lovely variegated green leaves. But what I saw this morning that I hadn't noticed before was a different colour that caught my eye. When I looked more closely I saw a bunch of lovely red berries, partly hidden by the leaves. It brought a smile to my face.
I like it when God catches our eye with the unexpected. And how often does He use the hidden things rather than the big and showy things. We tend to look to the big congregations, the well-known preacher or worship leader when often God wants to catch our attention with the hidden and unexpected. He is not necessarily in the wind or the fire or the showy and spectacular but in the still small voice. Expect to find God in the hidden, seemingly insignificant place today.

I agree that we should delight in the small things Mavis, it makes life so rich and people more contented.
Not so pleasant here today, no sunshine and it's snowing with a stiff breeze - not nice!
When I wrote that, I thought of you, honest! Wasn't trying to make you envious. Soon after that it absolutely poured with rain!
