They always make me smile but apart from being a joke they actually do convey what a lot of people really do think and how they see others. Some are favourable and some not so favourable but all seem to be different. The really interesting thing is our own opinion of ourselves. It reminded of the words of Jesus when he asked the disciples. 'Who do men say is the Son of Man?' and then asked 'And who do you say that I am?' Their answers show quite a difference of opinion reflecting how they knew Jesus differently. Everyone, it seems has a valid opinion but this is usually weighed and swayed by their culture, their surroundings, their relationship to us and coloured by many built-in, though maybe unconscious, prejudices and leanings
Although we often put a lot of store in what others think of us, and some of us can become upset or even offended at the opinion of others, in the end it is reassuring to know that God knows the real me, even better than I know myself.
