A couple of weeks ago a niece in Argentina asked me if I had any photos of her deceased mother and father, Gladys and Adamo. She particularly asked if I could email her copies of when Gladys visited us here in England. No problem! I clicked into My Pictures Library and started looking through all the photos. I managed to get ones that I had taken when Diego and I visited in 2004 for their golden wedding anniversary celebrations and also in 2007 when she was taken into hospital shortly before she died. I searched on my computer for some from her visit to us but to no avail.

Then of course it dawned on me - that was before I had a digital camera or a computer! I took a number of rolls of film during her month long stay with us and had the photos but of course no memory card, stick or disc with them on - only rolls of film. When I reckoned back, it was 17 years ago when she came to England returning to her home in Argentina on 4th January 1995. How time goes quickly!
Those memories are still fresh in the mind but the technology has moved on so much. I guess there are teenagers today who have never seen the sort of roll of film we used to use in order to take photos. Indeed it seems that cameras are often not used either as many people just use their phone. From one year to the next, new gadgets appear that make last year’s model undesirable. It makes me feel I'm always playing catch-up and when I seem to have caught up, the world has moved onto to some other superior gadget. This year you will be able to buy televisions in 3D. Ah well, you live and learn.

For the photos on my blog of the children when they were younger I had to scan one or two of them. The others had already been scanned in by my daughter for a photo album for her grandparents for Christmas one year. I think I shall scan in all my photos at one point and then they can be assembled into some virtual photo albums and so the kids will all have records. Oh the beauty of modern technology sometimes - mind you I just need some time now and no amount of modern technology can conjure that one up.
I tried scanning in but my scanner refused to do it! Don't know why unless it too is a bit too old! Maybe when/if I get a new printer/scanner I'll do that.
You're right - there are some things modern technology can't buy.
