One of the beautiful things about autumn is the changing colour of the leaves. In fact many people visit woodlands at this time of year just to see the spectacular colours.
Of course the downside to autumn is that the changing colours of the leaves really means that a gradual process is taking place - that is the death of the leaves. Eventually they fall to the ground. How often as children have we enjoyed wading through a pile of fallen autumn leaves and hearing the rustling sound under our feet.
But, as we know, this process is necessary so that the tree can conserve energy to last the cold spell of winter and then produce new growth in the spring. God's creation makes even dying into something beautiful to contemplate.
Life brings many changes, colouring our lives with different shades, all beautiful and necessary in their own way, maybe bringing a dying of one circumstance in order to allow growth of something new. It may be hard to let go sometimes but God's recreation in us can result in something beautiful for others to see and a future full of hope and renewal.
